Underwater, no windows, dark, limited oxygen and no way out. This is where we find Chief Pity Officer John G. Ott, the only survivor of a horrifying an event. “Chief Ott, can you tell me what happened here tonight?”

“Well it started out like any regular trip. Everything was going find. Until one night when we all woke up from a ghastly scream. That is when we Charles Reed he had been sucked out.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean that all that was left of him was his skin. No bones, internal organ or even blood. It was just the skin.”

“Then how did you know it was him?”

“Well, he still had his uniform on and it had his name tag.”

“What happened from there?”

“Well, at first we all panicked of course. Then after the Captain of the boat got us all calm down. He said it was probably just a prank by Charles. I on the other hand did not believe so. After searching for an hour, we didn’t find him and the Captain was getting worried I could see it in his face. He had me and some of the other Chiefs clean Charles body up or at least what was left of it. We fold it up and place…it …in a …truck. Then we carried…I…I…it to the trash room.” explained Chief Ott as he keep settling himself down.

“Are you okay?”

“Yea, I was just trying not to get sick. Well, after that we all walked to the Captains quarters. He was in there trying to figure out something to do. He didn’t come up with anything. Then there was more screams and this time there were five bodies laying in a line down the hallway. It was just the skin of more of our shipmates. Whatever this thing was it was it must have been really hungry. It devoured another five no longer then twenty minutes later.”

“What did you?”

“Well, I went and found my right hand man at the time Robert Nix. We decide that we were going to fight this thing anyway possible. Robert and I were going to see the Captain and see what he had plan for the sub. When we found him the creature was three fourths of the way done with sucking the Captain insides out. When we walked into the room the toe bones where gone and then the creature sucked out the Captain’s eye. We were frozen there as we watched the creature finish sucking the Captain up. Then it looked at us. It looked exactly like and ant eater it was uncanny how much it looked like one. We both looked at hard like if we continue to look at it that there would be rays that shout out of our and killed the creature. That didn’t work, so be blinked as if it would eventually disappeared as we opened our eyes. Then we slowly started to back away and then something happened I felt the creatures’ thoughts in my head. The creature was saying, “I am going to eat the both of you. It will pain full as you feel your and a heart rip away from the rest of your body then you want feel a thing.” Well then I really afraid and I grab Robert and we started to run down the hallway. As we were running I saw more of those creatures and I stopped and I could hear them. They were laughing and joking. One of the creatures said, “Those stupid humans don’t realize that they could kill us so easily. All it takes is a touch with…” “John run it is getting to close,” yelled Robert who had stopped further down the hall. I turned to see the thing a few feet away from me. I took off running backwards when I got far enough away from the creature I could turn around and start to run forward again. Then I told Robert what I heard and asked him, “If he could hear the creatures too?” He told me, “No” and asked “how our going to figure out what it is we can do so easily to kill these creatures.” I told him I didn’t know. Then I had an idea I would stop and mess with the creature maybe he would slipup and spill the beans about what we had to do to kill him. The creature ran towards me and I could start to hear his thoughts. “You better run stupid human I going to eat you. You think you are going to stop me by standing there and staring at me that want do the trick. If you were smart you would realize what could kill us. It is something that we have left behind everywhere we go. Then out of know where I got it John I know how to kill them. All we have to do is touch them. They can’t eat our skin that is the reason why. “You can hear their thoughts too?” I asked. “No I just figured it out,” answered Robert. He finally made it up to the creature and touches him and touched him before the creature even had a chance to touch him. Then a loud shriek a accrued at a high pitch tone as the creature caught on fire and turned into ash. Then before I had chance one those other two ant eaters had gotten Robert and started to eat him. I ran over there and touch the creature but it was too late for Robert he was already dead. The last saw me and I started to run I knew where I could get him at all I had to do was make it there. I ran through five doorways and the creature was catching up with me all I need to do was two more doorways. I could hear him getting closer. I too afraid to look back fearing if I did that I would be dinner. I got to the second doorway turned a sharp corner that the creature didn’t make, I knew this because I heard him crash in to a machine. I knew I had time now I grab a nearby stool that I happened to up there earlier and crawl on top of one of the machines and I waited for the creature. I felt like I waited hours for the creature to show up but I know it was more like a few minutes or even seconds. Then he was right under me I dived down at him hands first as soon as I felt his tough fur I slapped it and rolled away I looked up just in time to see the creature turn completely into ash. I didn’t have to look through the ship to know I was the lone one left I saw most of them running through the hallways. The creatures started to go through the mouths of my shipmates to stop them from screaming and the rest of them die in their sleep. I knew I was the only survivor I could feel it in my soul. Then I remember being real sleepy. I didn’t want to go to sleep in case there was another creature on the sub but I couldn’t stop it I felt myself fall to the grown and before I knew it you guys had woke me up and asking all these questions. How did y’all get me out of the sub anyway? Did you bring me up like you did the Hunley? Are you going to answer me? What is your problem? Say something. Don’t just sit there and act like I am not talking to you. Hey, please say something you are driving me crazy just sitting there not speaking a word. What do you want from me? I told you the hold story I didn’t leave anything. If you don’t believe go look for yourself there are bodies all over the sub. I know it sounds crazy but I am telling the truth. I am not crazy it is what really happened I promise. Please just say something.” said John.

“There are no bodies on the sub. There are no piles of ash from the creatures. This did not happen John.”

“It did see. I felt the creatures’ fur and the pain it was when my best bubby dies. Now I have to tell his wife and kids that daddy die by and alien creature and do you they are going to believe me?”

“It hasn’t happened yet. Robert will be okay and you will be fine. There is nothing to worry about.”

“What are you talking about? What is your name? Who are you anyway? What is going on?” question Chief Ott.

“It is time to wake up. You need to wake up. Soon it will be too late. Open your eyes and wake up.”

Just then John woke up and found himself back on the sub.

“That scream wake you up too?” asked Robert.

“Ah, yea it did,” answered Chief Ott.

“Let’s go check it out,” responded Robert.

They walked down the hallway and found Charles Reeve and all that was left was his skin.

“If you see and ant eater looking thing around that is what did this and all you have to do is touch it.” explained Chief Ott.

“Behind,” yelled Robert.
As John turned around and touch it, he realized it wasn’t working. Then he thought to himself, “It not working. You said that we would be okay.” Then he let out a scream and that was it.
